What are Profhilo Injections? – Bradford

This treatment has been a favourite amongst beauty bloggers for quite sometime. It’s been called the “injectable moisturiser’ as it intensely hydrates skin from within. It could also be described as a procedure that gives, weightless, invisible volume for a youthful look.

This is the one treatment that prompts people to comment on how well you look, or ask “what have you done differently”, but its subtlety is its appeal!

So what are Profhilo injections?

Profhilo is a unique stabilised injectable Hyaluronic Acid specifically created to treat skin laxity.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance in our skin, which gives us a fresh, youthful glow . Profhilo offers one of the highest concentrations of injectable HA on the market and can help to remodel ageing and sagging skin.

The slow release of HA in the skin stimulates production of 4 types of collagen as well as production of your own HA , resulting in improved skin quality and hydration in both the dermis and epidermis.

Where can it be used?

Profhilo can be used both on the face and body! On the face, 5 injection points are used on each side, (so 10 injections in total) all of which have been researched to give the most effective result. I explain to my patients in my Bradford Clinic that Profhilo “spreads like honey under the skin” in a 4cm radius from each injection point– so this covers quite a large area!

Areas on the body which can be treated include crepey stomachs, knees, hands, elbows and arms (although larger quantities are generally needed here).

Is it better than Botox™?

Profhilo is totally different to Botox™, which works to decrease muscle action and subsequently reduce wrinkles. However, they are the “perfect partners” and make up the most sought-after combination treatment in our Bradford clinic!

Profhilo or Dermal Fillers?

Again, Profhilo is very different to traditional dermal fillers. It is pure HA, whereas dermal fillers have other added components to make them more rigid and increase their longevity. Dermal fillers replace volume lost in specific areas such as cheeks, lips or jaw lines rather than offering global rejuvenation of the skin from within.

How often should you have Profhilo?

Improvements can be seen in some patients almost immediately, with skin looking brighter and smoother. Initial treatment recommendations are 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart. Results after this may last up to 6 months (depending upon an individual’s response). But, over the last 5 years of delivering Profhilo sessions, I have found those patients who have a maintenance treatment of just one session every 3 months (with an annual booster of 2 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart) obtain the best results. Most Patients tend to tie their maintenance in with their Botox™ treatments which fits beautifully!

Who can have Profhilo?

Anyone who has signs of skin ageing is suitable for treatment, but generally once your natural collagen starts depleting – which in women is sadly as early as 30 years old – this is the time you will see its true potential.

The treatment is for both men and women, and is sometimes more preferable for my male patients as its perceived as a more natural form of enhancement. Dermal fillers have had “bad press” and people worry about looking puffy and overdone – Profhilo is a skin booster and works from within, subtle yet effective.

You cannot have this treatment if you’re are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Finally – How much is Profhilo treatment in our Bradford clinic?

£500 includes both initial sessions 4 weeks apart.

Subsequent maintenance sessions are priced at £200 each.

A quote from a Profhilo patient
“You don’t release how amazing this treatment is until it wears off – it’s my invisible moisturiser.”
