Massages

If you’re feeling stressed, tired or suffering from aches and pains, massages at Jayne Taylor Aesthetics may be just what you need.

Massage is the practice of rubbing and kneading the body using predominantly the hands.  Varying levels of pressure is applied by the therapist to the muscles and joints to ease pain and reduce tension.

SWEDISH MASSAGE
This gentle treatment is perfect for people who are new to massage, who want to reduce and release tension, and who desire a more gentle touch. It is a great choice for those who want to fully relax during the treatment. During this massage, a combination of kneading, rhythmic tapping, deep circular movements, and long flowing strokes are used. This type of massage targets the uppermost layer of muscles and aims to relieve muscle tension.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
A treatment that targets chronic tension in muscles that lie far below the body’s surface. More pressure is applied during this type of massage than during a Swedish massage. It’s great for those who suffer from muscle problems such as soreness, injury, tightness or spasm. During a deep tissue massage, slow strokes along with deeper finger pressure to relieve tension from the deepest layers of your muscles are used. It is less relaxing than a Swedish massage but is perfect for that aching back and limbs.

Video Demonstration And Frequently Asked Questions

It’s very important that you are well-hydrated before your massage. If you are thirsty and dehydrated (or if it’s really hot), you can sometimes feel dizzy after a massage. The same applies to low blood sugar… if you have not eaten within 4-5 hours of your massage treatment you can sometimes feel dizzy and light-headed afterwards.

So it’s important to feel hydrated, and full in order to get the best out of your massage, and feel great afterwards!

The beauty of massage is that it can be completely tailored to the needs of the individual. Treatments are delivered in a luxurious, warm, calming environment, on a heated bed (if required) surrounded by relaxing music. We appreciate that everyone is different and for that reason we offer the option of a “silent” massage. Some patients prefer the therapist to explain what is happening at each stage of the treatment and some patients want to chat throughout. That said we also appreciate that some patients want to relax and soak up the atmosphere and treatment without added conversation. Please speak to your therapist if you would prefer a “silent” massage and she will be happy to oblige.

After only one treatment, massage has been shown to; release endorphins (the body’s feel good hormones), reduce anxiety and to temporarily reduce blood pressure and heart rate by improving circulation.

Following multiple massage treatments people have reported longer lasting reduced pain, reduced anxiety and an improvement in some types of depression.

Massage therapy is usually performed during 30 or 60 minute appointments.

The pressure applied during massage can be varied according to the comfort of the patient although Swedish massage is the more gentle treatment of the two with Deep Tissue massage requiring more pressure. You will be asked about the level of pressure you would like prior to and at the beginning of your massage. Please be honest, we want you to enjoy every second of this luxury treatment.

Most patients report getting back to normal immediately however some patients have reported that they feel so relaxed after a Jayne Taylor Aesthetics massage that they can’t wait for their next one!
