Mole Mapping

Skin is the largest organ of the human body

With that in mind it’s only right that we do our best to take good care of it and that means protection!

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK and in the last 10 years the incidence of skin cancer has increased by almost 50%.  16,000 people every single year will be diagnosed with skin cancer but with prompt and appropriate treatment, over 90% of those people will survive. Early diagnosis and intervention is key to a positive outcome.

Here at Jayne Taylor Aesthetics, we take skin care extremely seriously and for that reason we have made the decision to do our part in the early detection and diagnosis of potential skin cancers. We believe Mole Mapping is crucial in supporting this approach.

A mole is a small, coloured spot found on the skin. Most people have them and they’re usually nothing to worry about unless they change size, shape or colour.

We offer a mole mapping service, a type of cancer screening, that is both quick and painless and it could save lives. Using advanced digital technology, we examine and photograph individual moles with a Dermascope, a hand held device that takes high resolution and high magnification photographs which are then sent away to be reviewed by a Consultant Dermatologist who will be looking for very specific signs of Melanoma (skin cancer) that may not be visible to the naked eye. A clinical report of the findings is then produced and shared with you in order for you to be able to take the next appropriate step should that be necessary. That said, the majority of moles are benign, requiring no treatment whatsoever but we feel it is better to be safe.
