As we age, we begin to experience varying degrees of skin laxity. This is caused by the natural ageing process, genetics, lifestyle choices and our environment. The majority of patients choose to treat the face initially, but the beauty of Exilis Ultra is that any part of the body can be treated, although the most popular areas chosen are;
Radiofrequency uses safe levels of low-frequency electromagnetic waves to generate heat within the dermis (the layer of skin that lies just underneath the outer epidermis, the thickest layer of the skin), which causes the body to produce new collagen and elastin within the dermal layer. This results in the firming and lifting of any sagging skin, creating a younger, more vibrant appearance. When used in its body sculpting setting, the Exilis Ultra also targets unwanted fat cells, breaking them down so that the body can naturally and safely dispose of them.
We recommend a course of four treatments, one per week, although if a quicker result is needed for that special event, additional treatments can be taken over a shorter period of time to enhance and speed up the end result. Compared to other types of skin tightening, your experience of Exilis Ultra will be relaxing and pain-free. As mentioned above, some heat is involved, but this can be adjusted to maintain your comfort.

A preview of longer lasting results can be seen as early as the first treatment but the optimum results are usually seen 3 months following the completion of a course of treatments. This gives your body the opportunity to produce the new skin, collagen and elastin cells. The results are temporary but can last as long as two years.
As usual it all starts with a consultation where your skin can be examined and an individual treatment plan developed.

In order to get the best from this treatment your skin must be well hydrated. We advise drinking at least 2 litres of water each day in the lead up to your planned treatment.
If you are having your face treated, we ask that you arrive in clinic, make up free and with clean skin.
If you are having your body treated, all hair in the treatment area must be removed before arrival in clinic.
There are some medical conditions and treatments that will prevent us offering this treatment to you. Please speak to your practitioner about this.
A course of four treatments (every 7 to 10 days for the face, 7 to 14 days for the body) is recommended and in order to maintain your new trim and tight look you will want to preserve the results with additional maintenance sessions every 6 months.
The skin tightening treatment time is entirely dependent upon the number of areas you are having treated in one appointment, there is a maximum of 6 areas at any one time but average treatment times range from 30 to 90 minutes and will be bespoke to your individual treatment plan.
Most patients describe the treatment as relaxing. The area being treated will feel warm and you will be asked regularly to rate your comfort level throughout.

Recovery time and aftercare is minimal. The area being treated will most probably redden during and after the treatment, this is the body’s natural inflammatory response and is what we are looking for. We will also always advise that you protect your skin with a high SPF and avoid direct sunlight as well as continue to drink those 2 litres of water per day.
Temporary improvements can be seen immediately but we do like to call this a preview of the final result as it takes time for your body to make the additional collagen that we are looking for. The optimum results are seen at 3 months following the course of 4 treatments. At that point you will then be able to re-evaluate your treatment plan and photographs with your practitioner.
